Finding IMEI number of your Mobile

What is an IMEI?

IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It identifies a specific mobile being used on a GSM or UMTS network. If a mobile phone stolen or lost, users can contact their network provider and supply them with mobile’s IMEI number so as to prevent further use of phone.

Another one of such kind is the IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) number which is stored in the SIM. This unique 15 digit code identifies an induvitual user on a GSM network.

Here is some codes to get details of their mobile phones.
TO GET IMEI:

To get IMEI type the following CODE:” *#06# “.To get phone details there are a few Codes too. If your Phone is Nokia: To get phone details type the following code: *#0000#.

If your phone is Sony Ericsson to Enter in to service menu use the following code: * * * *

IMEI numbers either come in a 17 digit or 15 digit sequences of numbers. The IMEI format currently utilized is AA-BBBBBB-CCCCCC-D:

  • AA: These two digits are for the Reporting Body Identifier, indicating the GSMA approved group that allocated the TAC (Type Allocation Code).
  • BBBBBB: The remainder of the TAC
  • CCCCCC: Serial sequence of the Model
  • D: Luhn check digit of the entire model or 0 (This is an algorithm that validates the ID number)
